FA exclusive!
It took me a few years but I finally realized this is an art website and I though I would attempt to draw something. So I though I would start with one of my favorite characters of all time: Yoshi. After watching a Youtube tutorial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHPYyVDGi6I) I thought I give drawing a try and this is what came of it. So if you like to provide critique (I already know the right foot is too big and everything is out of proportion), color it, or just tell me it is the worst drawing of Yoshi you've ever seen (it is the worst drawing of Yoshi I've ever seen) feel free to do so. I'll probably try drawing him again and hopefully it should look less mediocre. Anyway, I'd really appreciate you input and, yes, today is indeed my birthday. Thanks.

Happy birthday! :D
I think a good understanding of construction would help you with your drawings.

A solid character is made of 3 dimensional shapes.
Maybe practice construction of simple characters like Yoshi (not a bad character to start with, cus he's made of simple shapes!) And that will get you
eventually to understand how shapes work together to form characters. your characters will look more dimensional and solid.
John K has a bunch of blog posts about construction -

I think that might be a good place to start? Later on could learn about poses and weight and balance. There're a lot of good books to look at (there's a good How to Draw the Looney Tunes book, and even some of Chris Hart's cartoon drawing books are good) plus lots of tutorials and resources online.
