Trisstan soldier in light power armor
Whereas the Mrish are considered a young race, having been in space for only 5,000 years, the Trisstans were one of the founding races of the Commonwealth and have been in space for three quarters of a million years. As with the mrish, I've drawn him with relatively primitive weapons because technobabble weapons are boring. 83
Trisstans are chemically different from mrish and cannot eat the same foods...or mrish...under normal circumstances. When they serve together in large numbers, it is common for certain chemical changes to be made in one or the other to ease supply problems. Ultimately this means that trisstans can and have eaten mrish, and vice versa. 89~
Oh yes, this is obviously another done-at-class pic. Boring classes can be really productive!

The Great War was fought against extra-galactic invaders. A Boskone-like coalition of enemy races led by soul-sucking extradimensional creatures called the Ylestri caused untold havok. Besides the various organic ground troops fielded by the Ylestri, the main opposition was the robotic attack drones of various sorts. Terminator- and HK-type robots and tanks, that sort of thing. The Ylestri themselves were extremely difficult to injure, being mostly otherworldly, and they could suck the life out of just about anything from a good distance. The falan race was Uplifted because their unusual nervous system gave them some resistance to the soul-sucking. Falan have only been Uplifted for some 150 years -- before that they were bronze age. Mrish and Trisstans and Xsir and the many, many other allied races have been in space much longer.
The original three-empire coalition that blossomed into the Commonwealth was the Xsir (crab-like hive mind crustaceans), The trisstans, and the Hestans, stereotypical humanoid-cat furries. They fought a number of wars before forming a joint government, which absorbed other races and eventually evolved into the Commonwealth. The Hestan race was the most prominent race in the Commonwealth before the Great War, narrowly edging out the prolific Xsir in importance, but the hestans suffered massive casualties in the war. Even their ancestral homeworld was all but sterilized, and currently they have pulled back to their core worlds and have become isolationist. In their absence the Xsir and Trisstans pretty much run the Commonwealth.

Uplifted? ;) Ah, so this is an Uplift Wars style universe, or just using the term to mean the same thing without using the same setting?
I have a comic I drew a long time ago, only like 6-7 pages, of a galactic war that was along warm/cold blooded lines. I wonder if I can dig that up - naturally it sucks hard, but maybe I can at least write the ideas into something.
((::also imagines the Hestans had the most trouble because from the sound of it, they were easiest to eat ;) ::))

Not the same universe, and I haven't read the books, but the short version is this: They went to Falva (the falan homeworld) and they took every bronze-age single falan off-world, educated them, cloned them, bred them as possible, to rapidly create a soldier force. This was not done lightly, but it was thought (correctly) that they might have some resistance to the Ylestri, so it was done. There was much apologizing after the fact. 83
