Rumors of me getting lost during excursions are greatly exaggerated. It's rather that they lose track of me while I don't lose my orientation, so "getting lost" is not quite the right choice of words here.
"Let's meet at the Einstein monument we saw yesterday on our way to the Anne Frank House," they said and of course I couldn't find them because there is no Einstein in Amsterdam.
It was only later back home when I learned, that their "Einstein" actually was Multatuli. An error on their part which I didn't anticipate because the name of the guy was clearly written on it.
What is of my fault however is that my lack of Dutch vocabulary had caused me to miss out the tour of the Dutch Resistance Museum. Instead I was busying myself with exploring the entire block around the museum and heading over to the Hermitage and back to the museum. Choices which benefited the group as a whole because that way I knew ahead of them that Van Gogh's works had temporarily moved to the Hermitage, and I also was able to spot the former homes of deported Jews in the vicinity of the museum. My personal reward was finding an underpass which was decorated with fake QR-codes which depicted actual objects.
Considering the variety of teasing/mocking nicknames or reputations, "getting lost" is possibly one of the preferable ones. I play along and claim, that I took the scenic routes, which is quite accurate because I got to see many monuments and the non-tourist areas. I also came across people who were rather glad that I was "lost" because they needed a hand and apparently nobody else was around, so they were rather thankful for my coincidental appearance.
Mu should speak more often. Just look at that font.
