Grand/Big Daddy and Velvet. ;3;
Grand Daddy isn't doing too well right now... And I fear he doesn't have much time to live, so I wanted to make this. Velvet (the one on the right) is just fine... but he loves his buddy. He always follows him around, and pushes him up a lot which I still don't understand why. They've been together for about 5 months...

If Grand Daddy ends up passing away, I'll add a halo. v_v

Mollies are actually livebearers. They have internal fertilization, so I doubt he'd expect eggs.
Back when I used to have fish, I found that guppy and molly males will pursue other fish species with large tail fins (ie things that look vaguely like their own species), including bettas. They have a strong drive to mate.
If he starts to pester your female betta too much, it might help to get a couple female mollies (more than one so he doesn't harass a single female constantly). Though if you don't want babies, that's not really an ideal solution.

I think Riley will be fine. She turns around and puffs up at him to stay away, and then he'll back off. With Grand Daddy he was able to push him around as he pleased. It seemed like Grand Daddy just didn't care.
And I won't be able to keep them in a few months, so there would be no point of getting more fish...

Sorry for your loss :'( Bettas are so easy to get attached too, I get teary just thinking of my little guy passing ;;^;;
