i am definitely looking forward to more from richter. i like how this piece goes into aspects we haven't touched on yet, like the actual media response to the article and alfie's visit, as well as the peanut gallery ala internet comments. it feels very real that there would be both adamant opponents and vehement supporters of someone like alfie. all of which who i am sure are in capable of expressing their opinions like adults. i can can also feel richter tensing at the edge of his seat as all this unfolds, going "what have i dooooooone..."

I'd definitely like to delve further into that half of things, yeah. Specism isn't an isolated issue so I could imagine Alfie coming Stateside turning into a cause celebre from all sides of the issue: the ones who are straight-up RR supporters, the ones who want him burned at the stake, and the bleeding hearts who are convinced he's just a nice guy and are REALLY in Muri's corner to "rehabilitate" him. In the internet age, a story like Alfie's can't just slip through the cracks silently. Then you've got Richter who really isn't much for the limelight and just wanted to write a nice piece on an athlete who got thrust into controversy, all because he didn't know what he was getting into.

I figure Muri's going to get hit with a bit of it now and again as well, particularly now that she's back in the states and word has gone around that she's signed the "monster". She'll be called up for interviews and statements for stories about him. The ball is rolling and there's no way to stop it now.

I might wanna put together like a fake radio segment...

Very well-written, and you've put your thumb on the bullseye here! Regardless of anyhting alfie does or doesn't do, he's already become a "cause celeb", if for no other reason than for idiots to argue other endlessly on the Net. All of which will inevitably filter back to Alfie and Murina and the coaches and the FBA management and anyone else that'll have an opinion re. public opinion and how that colors everything. What a shitstorm this's going to be! And that's hoping Alfie doesn't get drunk in a bar and do something REALLY FUCKING STUPID!
