So, I usually either get flack for this, or laughs, but for serious I'm watching the old Pokémon episodes, trying to get to present. Even a lot of big Pokémon fans don't like the show, but I find it to be a relaxing alternative to games, and it makes me want to draw sometimes.
Spoilers, if you care...
Episode 255 involved a Dragonite that would, frankly, scare the shit out of me. If you hear a moo, and it's angry, just run and hope. It took Ash's Charizard, Pikachu, Claire's Dragonair, and the Dragonite essentially hitting itself with 3 of its own Hyper Beams, after tiring itself out from a rampage... Not to take it down, no. Just to wake it up from its angry rage fit. It was still fucking fine after all of that. I was like... You know what? You're a badass.
The best part? The directors for that episode put some great angry facial expressions for Dragonite in there. How could I resist drawing one?
So here it is. Now whenever something destructive happens and people ask what's going on, I can just link them this.
Also holy crap I drew something G-rated.

I have to roll 5 theme songs around in my head now! Actually most of them were pretty good, but you can't forget the original!
...But I'm kind of glad I kept watching. Season 5 is really where it started getting a lot better and fun to watch again. :D
Maybe that's because it's hard to fuck up Gold and Silver. :3

The Johto opener is really catchy and fun!
It all depends on my mood, because Born To Be A Winner and the season 5 opener are both really good at making me feel pumped up about Pokémon, even if the season 3 opener is a bit more enjoyable to listen to... Everything in its place!

I just now found this gem and I remember the episode you're talking about. Yes, that dragonite was terrifying. It just goes to show that you should never underestimate the big sweet cuddly looking ones. They might be the ones that can totally OWN YOU like in that episode.
Now imagine how powerful that gigantic dragonite from the first season must have been.

Yeah, holy cow. People can say what they want about the characters, Ash seeming to not age, whatever... But the crazy variety the setting in the show demonstrates is awesome. The Pokémon world is really colorful like that! Weird time-travel, giant Pokémon, legendary/unique Pokémon that can breed or be a full species... and crazy, un-living eldritch horrors that rise out of the earth and go on a rampage. You know, I kinda want to watch more of that show now! :3
Let's not forget the sweet and friendly candles that devour the souls of those that wander into its light. It's a friendly show for kids! I think Ash is about 16/17 in the show now. But the reason why he and pikachu suck at the beginning of every series is because they are facing new challenges in a place where Pokemon are wildly different than where they were before. A convenient thing people seem to overlook.
