This is Jazzie our adopted ACD, we adopted her on April 10 2013.
We met this girl at a dog show of all places that was 2hours away from home and our mother fell in love with her, we too thought she was a pretty girl. A week later we adopted her from the rescue and took her home, she fits in really well around here witch is amazing cus we have many different kinds of animals. Jazzie even has her Canine Good Citizen "CGC" now and I've only had her for a short time.
To think that this wonderful animal was picked up as a "stray" and was pulled from the adoption floor at the shelter for being "too nippy" and was going to be put down if a rescue did not step in to take her, just pisses me off and makes me sick, she is a cattle dog they are a mouthy breed, her so called nippiness is her just playing around and is not even that nippy at all. People are way too touchy sometimes, i wonder how many wonderful animals get put down because no one takes the time to train them or understand them.
Jazzie is very smart and is full of heart, she is a lucky dog, all the cards ended up turning to her favor, i don't know what her past was, but she has nothing but the best now, a forever home with us and people who love her and will never give her up <3

Beautiful ACD! I eventually want have a small herding breed pack! I can understand about people not understanding the nippiness or breed. I hate when my 10 month old Australian Shepherd is called aggressive. For barking at a person she never met before. I'm sorry, not all breeds older pup or dog are friendly with strangers. Traits can be suppressed not removed. Explaining myself to those people would be like talking to a wall. Some people think they know all about every breed of dog just because they have one! Research! Research! Research for goodness sakes!
After reading that description it makes me sad too to think about how many don't understand animals, especially dogs who I think are among the most loving of animals. As if I ever come across a dog I think is too nippy, I just gently push their head away from me, and then pet them in such a way so the dog understands that I like him or her but not that small action it did.
Wow! She is gorgeous! It never ceases to amaze how some people will just throw an animal away because they don't want to take the time to train it. The best dog I have ever had is a shelter rescue who was picked up as a stray. As for shelter staff being too sensitive about mouthy breeds, it's sadly a common fact that shelter staff just aren't knowledgeable about dog breeds, and so often don't notice something that is normal for that dog breed, but write it off as a dangerous behavior: nippiness in herding breeds, shyness/fear in GSDs in confined spaces, reactive as aggressive, etc.
Anyway! Congrats on your fourth ACD! All of them are beautiful!
