Ah, I see.
What services do the SLTs do? Suburban and Regional trains?
Haha! XD That sounds funny indeed... We do give lots of nicknames to some of our units as well...
Do you know what kind of broke down problems they had during the winter?
On a completely different note: We have Dutch Built Diesel Units... The older versions were very simillar to some of yours too. Built by Allan.

The SLT serves mostly as a regional intercity.
Here it is: http://rpmedia.ask.com/ts?u=/wikipe.....Train2402b.jpg
They broke down because the snow came into the circuitry, which wasn't protected enough.
And yes, I know those: They're called the 'buffalo' here, if i recall correctly. They're used only in the nothern part of the country, and only on one or two non-electrified railroutes.
And we use the same electric locs as the one in Portugal!

Well, that's a strange problem!
The unit looks really nice.
I have a post-card of one of those "buffalo" diesel units, that was offered by a Dutch Railways Enthusiast that came to Portugal. He also gave me a post-card with a photo of those Plan-T Mat64 units.
Yes, you do have some simillar ones to our CP 2600/2620. Here's the last photo I caught of them in service here: http://www.furaffinity.net/full/5229868 [Yes, they were phased out the last month... ]. Your series "name" are the NS 1600, NS 1700 and NS 1800, if I'm not mistaken. They are wonderful locomotives. And my favourite locomotives have their kind of style (Alsthom's Nez-Cassez], but they're diesel-electric, the CP 1900/1930 series, here's a shot of a CP 1900: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5229850

Nice!
And yes, they're indeed wonderful locomotives. :)
My favorite is the VIRM4, though, the only trainstem with 4 bogeys. Too bad they can't be shown in Portugal or Spain. Trackwidth is different, sadly.
Might be a fun initiative, to rebuild one of those to ride the Portugese tracks.
