I tend to find wasps and yellowjackets like to sneak into my lair in some way I never see them till I hear a little critter flying around or bumping into walls or windows. So this one was about a day and a half before I could finally get a hold of it. Took a little doing, but managed to get a picture before letting the little buddy outside to do what they do.

Bluh... why would killing be better than befriending? I don't see why petting or being friends with animals should be considered such a horrible thing. People just have to be careful about feeding animals in a more wild setting though, because either, they will start stalking people for food, and if it is done enough, they might lose their predatory skills, and start relying on people. But to just hang around and be around creatures... personally, I don't see the bad in that.
You can't hunt in the state park, though; fishing is OK, but not hunting, although if you catch a gator with a big hook, would that be considered fishing?

It might be considered fishing if they were fish :-P
The state doesn't want someone getting bitten or scratched. They treat such events like the apocalypse. It's why that CA cop will probably get away with murdering someone's rottweiler, and also recently in CA, another got promoted after gunning down someone's pet german shepherd. - cause it might have bit him. Might have.
It's a rare breed that goes out of their way for an animal, especially an insect. Be proud of that.

Even if you are attacked, come on...... it's a bite. I was bit by a dog as a kid. I didn't die. I just cried for a few minutes and went home to mommy :-P And I sure as hell didn't have pepper spray, a taser, body armor, and a partner with the same.
Sorry, there's a rant trying to escape from me. But yeah, I agree completely with your final sentence. I used to be involved in wildlife rehabilitation, so I've taken a few outside myself, including skunk, possum, rats, and even a little owl I had to pull out of a chimney by (gloved) hand. So you know I appreciate the thought from others.

Dude, I find myself doing the whole "duck-'n'-cover" act whenever I see one of those things within like 4 feet of me and you can actually HOLD them?? I've had too many bad experiences with things stinging me while I'm minding my own business, I guess. I'm glad they're so friendly to you, though!
I used to run from stuff when I was young.... stuff don't bother me as much now... my friends wonder how in the heck I can catch critters like this (or con them into walking on my paw). They are a bit more intimidating when there is a nest of them, though... you just have to be easy around them. I've only been stung once; that was by wasps that were living in the fender of a car I was working on... got them stirred up and didn't know it.
It doesn't help that I'm a little autistic, though(Aspergers). I used to get stung all the time just minding my own business. In pools, on vehicles, in the yard, mainly those places. I can deal with almost anything else, but flying NOPEs with Arse Daggers(kind of an inside joke, but you get the picture) are something I don't do.
I bet that was unpleasant, stirring up those wasps and getting stung...OUCH

They don't like you, eh? Well, if they are living in an item and you rustle it around, yea... they get riled up. Got to be careful of that. But just casually walking near them or such, I've never had an issue with it, even when I was cutting grass and they were along the backside of the house (never saw the nest, but there were a few of them). You must use "the force": **I am barely here, you don't want to poke me with your butt, I'm your friend**
