Nah, the cacodemon only has a single eye. But the demon here looks like the tyraneye from Magicka.

fun fact! The frontal image of the cacodemon from doom is actually a sprite made from the head of an image of an astral dreadnought. The artwork it was taken from appeared on the cover of "Manual of the planes."

They are there, just behind the column... and also a few are probably behind his body. He is looking in every direction...

There are only 3 stalks partially obscured by the column. And only 1 eye-beam from the unseen eyes. Even assuming that 2 eyes shine at the back side of the column, there should be more eye beams.

The question is: did the beholder lose those eyes to this party shortly before the scene, or earlier and to somebody else? Or is it some non-standard beholder?

Well, as I wrote above, this is a 3E eye of flame - it's not a standard beholder. Probably has less eyestalks.

And yes, Eye of the beholder was a great movie, but I kept wondering when the photographer would be revealed to be a disguised Spectator! (just kidding...)
