Here is, well, ME, as a feral animal pin. As you may have guessed, I made myself into the Trinket Sphinx logo.
The traditional "sphinx" image is a sphinx sitting upright with wings outstretched, as we are usually found on top of cliffs, surveying the land as we stand guard, (see here).
"How can you be a sphinx if you're a wolf from the waist up?" is a question I've been asked before and the answer is this: a sphinx does not always have to be a lion/human mix. If you want a more in-depth answer, go here.
Sphinx are very prevalent in world mythology, not just Egypt, (Athena herself used sphinx), and can vary in species greatly. There have even been sphinx with insect wings, and a tauric is not uncommon.
The one thing that remains true of the sphinx, no matter which culture you examine, is that we are guardians. Hand-chosen by the divine for our cunning, our tenacity, and our ferocity.
