After my epic fail at realistic painting, I decided to cool off and do something experimental for fun.
I am sure this is inspired by one of my very favorite DA (and FA artists, too!) Louve (louvelex here on FA) whose beautiful, antique looking illustrative work is just.... some of the best on the site. And some of my favorite, period.
Usually, I am extremely allergic to warm colors, and so I resolved to start with a very warm, very dark wash and see where it went from there. With somewhat surprising results. I like some parts better than others, but on the whole (considering I hadn't the slightest idea of what I was doing) it turned out fairly well.

This silly lizard has been spending the last two weeks in La-La-Land with her Mate, KaniS. *grins* So no Thursday Prompts out of me during that time- no 'puter time. Spent most of it on the road and with my dragon. Been slacking the whole time, me. Taking photos of trees, flowers and wildlife is fun, too- we did a lot of that sort of thing.
And I'll certainly suggest it to her! I'd thought that because I was so new to the group, it might be better if another made the suggestion? I wonder if my two small writing efforts have gone over well with them...
Cheers!

(chuckle) Looks good from here; rather like the illustrations in some of the old books of fairy tales. A lot better than the ones in the Andrew Lang books, though...
Pardon, though, but which type of dragon-like creature is that on the rock in the foreground? Without a front view, it's hard to say, though the feathered wings and beak seem to indicate a smallish gryphon. In any event, you've got some terrific composition and detail going on here.
