Hey man, can't beat "Drive" by the Cars...and for some reason thinking of country I am now thinking of "Islands in the Stream" :-P Our neighbor found this and most of the 8 tracks at a yard sale for $1 back 20 years ago. Some of them even have the original paper packaging still on them. But my favs have always been The greatest of the Guess Who, Arthur Fiedler, and Organ Magic (pun obvious) hehe. Our player still works great too, gotta test it out every year.
I think that was the #1 reason why the 8-track died!
One fun story was when I got my first stereo in 1975 with a 8-track recorder. My dad came home from a garage sale and picked up Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" and "The Best of Steppenwolf"..he hated rock so he never knew what he bought..

These things were never made to last 30-40 years. I've transferred a few of my homemade 8-tracks (of radio stations) to cassettes over the years, The biggest problems I've had were:
1) The foam pad behind the tape has deteriorated over the years - they sell replacement pads on ebay.
2) Or if the tape uses leaf springs (RCA and Ampex tapes), the pads have fallen off. If they are still in the 8-track you can carefully glue them back on.
2) The sensing foil splice that makes the player change tracks has dried out. It needs to be replaced but the tape is hard to find.
3) On some 8-tracks the pinch roller has deteriorated to goo.
