Simba and Nala reached adolescence in two very different places, each of them where they'd never see another lion their age of the opposite gender. This picture was inspired by the song "The Sweetest Sounds" from the live-action version of Cinderella, but as I was drawing it this line from "Somewhere Out There" from the Fivel Mousekevitz movies also seemed to ring true:

"And when the night wind starts to sing its lonesome lullaby, it helps to think you're sleeping underneath that same big sky..."
