This is the Grand band Organ at Knoebel's Grove's main carousel. It was bought and added to the park in 1943 and has survived ALL the floods to the area and still plays beautifully as the carousel spins its passengers everyday of the season.
I believe it originally read special cylinders to play its music, but in the 60's or 70's its reader mechanism was changed to be able to read paper music scrolls similar to a player piano.
This dazzling piece of art (both visual and musical) has been entertaining guests for decades!
