Well here is the progress on my whip. Current length is 5 foot and eight inches, when it has its poper it will be just over 6 feet
It is not finished yet but this is the main body and the unpadded handle. I am going to wrap the handle in leather for better grip and comfort. I am also going to put a 3 or so inch poper on it for that good CRACK sound that everyone loves. I experimented with a cloth poper when it was a little shorter then this and it made the crack sound just fine so I am sure that my project is a success. Now I just have to put the finishing touches on it.
Final veridct for the prototype is it IS able to crack and it does work to a point however I need a spot welder before I can call it fully functional since the force of the wave at the very tip is enough to open the rings. Which is scary since I sat and beat a wall with it for a few minutes and nothing happened at all but the shear force being driven into the tip is enough to open the rings.
As always everything I make is for sale and I do custom orders.
Please look at the rest of my gallery for more of my work.

umm not too long really but since I wasn't paying full attention and left it and came back to it over and over it took longer then it needed. All in all in actual work time somewhere maybe around 5 or so hours. Of course if I sat and did nothing but weave it then it would of taken less since I spead weave and am very good at full persian. It's like my specialty.
Speeeeeeeead demon! Haha yeah I work very fast on everything and you should see me play DDR, Dance Maniacs, Pop'n Music or any other game that needs you to move quickly since I was like in the top three players in town at all of them.
I have very long thin fingers and very dexterous hands. Which I surprise people with how strong they are. People learned very quickly to not try to pry anything out of my hand cuz I would almost break their fingers....
Like I said though I am very good at that weave and I have made about 20 or so things out of it before.

My old freind once tried to make one of these. his rings were to weak though and i am glad i was quick. cause about 6 inches of it flew of at me and many little links flew everywhere when tested. Also his "poper" was made from chain and i told him it would not work like he thought it would. cannot wait to see yours done
I had the same problems while I was testing weaves and gauges. I tried using titanium for the last few feet of it at first but they are too springy and opened up and went flying and when they did they made this really cool. ZZZZzzzzzzzzit noise. The funny part about the rings that went flying is the titanium is so springy the rings came open and when they flew off they closed again and still had perfect closures when I went and gathered them up.
