This is the actual first painting I've done in 7 years, and it cracks me up whenever I look at it. Such a contemplative, morose-looking horse. What horse thinks are you thinking up, dude?
Anyway, this is a half of a gift for my parents. I promised to paint them a picture of a hoers forever ago and kinda never did after I realized how terrible I am at painting (what with the "I didn't get accepted to art school" baaws and waahs). This year I decided that their 35th anniversary could be a good opportunity to finally fulfill that promise (for better or for worse), but in order to not completely get out of my comfort zone I painted it exclusively with black and white. Yeah, that purples and browns are not actually there and the whole thing is a lot darker than this, but my camera is incapable of taking good photos of paintings and the black paint I used is a bit too glossy which didn't make it any easier.
