Travelling companions
When you invest hundreds of hours into something, it becomes a part of you. I've played Pokémon for years, and I found new companions in each game that I started. So this drawing is for the best of them - my top 10 bunches of data and pixels! I would have loved to draw more of them, but I had to cut somewhere! I will remake this picture once I finish the Gen 6 games and I promise I'll add the ones that didn't make it to this picture (I'm looking at you, Deckard, Harlock, Ankylosar, and everybody else!)
● Blaze [Blaziken]
Oh, the times I've talked about this guy already! Blaze was the Pokémon that Professor Birch gave me in my Emerald game - the first game that was one hundred percent mine. By the time I played it, I didn't know how the starters' evolutions would look like, and needless to say - I was greatly impressed by Blaziken's looks! I always imagined Blaze to be some sort of bodyguard, with his Black belt tied around his head, as the great fighter he was. I always brought him with me everywhere, since I was very attached to him - and still am!
● Psy [Grumpig]
This little piggy was also one of my faithful companions in Emerald. I knew I had to get a Grumpig as soon as I saw Kelly's in the anime. They looked so interesting! I trained one to be a Smart contestant, and even if I never got the chance to get him to the highest contest rank, I still remember how happy I was to own a Grumpig like the one in the anime. I always imagined him levitating the pokéblocks I gave him before he ate them.
● Gold [Mightyena]
By the time I found this sparkly critter, I didn't know what shiny Pokémon were! He popped up in a patch of grass near a pond in Route 117, and needless to say - I caught him instantly! I still remember very clearly that it was on May 1st, five years ago. Unfortunately, I lost him when I restarted my Emerald game and I no longer have him. But I will always remember the sound of that sparkle that played along the battle theme!
● Pochy [Empoleon]
The memories I've kept from this girl! I chose Piplup as my starter in Pokémon Diamond, back when it wasn't even released in English. She came along with me through my first visit to Sinnoh, which was a truly scary and mysteryous place back in the day, since I still had to discover all of its routes and cities, there were new creatures and I just couldn't understand a word of what everyone was saying! (I played it in Japanese) Having Pochy by my side inspired me to continue my journey every time I switched on my DS.
● Luri [Lucario]
This girl is probably the Pokémon that has changed me the most. I fell in love with Lucario from the first time that I saw its design, back when Diamond and Pearl weren't even announced, and I thought it was the most beautiful Pokémon I had ever seen. Watching the movie made me even more eager to get one - oh, I cried like a baby with it. When Diamond and Pearl came out in Japan, I knew I had to get one. And being able to own my very own Lucario, in my very own game, made me the happiest person on Earth. I loved her to pieces and I always used her everywhere - she was the first Pokémon that I trained from level 1 to 100. And after all this time, she's still very close to my heart!
● Tsuti [Serperior]
Tsuti's story is pretty similar to Pochy's. I got a Snivy as my starter in my Japanese Black, and visited the first towns and cities with her until she evolved into Servine. Then, I transferred her to my Spanish Black and included her in my team. And dang, she grew really fast! She helped me lots of times and combined perfectly with the rest of my team. She was always one step ahead of her teammate's levels :P
● Azre [Swoobat]
I also fell in love with this Pokémon as soon as I saw it. I got a Woobat very early in the game, and she evolved really fast! I traded her from my Japanese Black to my Spanish game together with Tsuti. Azre wasn't super strong, but I loved her so much (how could you not love a fluffly bat with a heart-shaped nose and tail?!) and she was an awesome addition to my team. I always flew around with her.
● Ram [Sceptile]
I chose this gecko as my starter in my current Pokémon Emerald run. I already knew every inch in Hoenn, so travelling with him wasn't as exciting as travelling with Blaze, but I love going around with him to catch wild Pokémon! I'm currently trying to complete my 'dex with his help and he's awesome. I imagine him as some sort of explorer. He always wears his Amulet coin (you can never have enough money if you want to catch 'em all) and he loves juggle with Pokéballs.
● Patrick [Darumaka]
When Darmanitan was released, I thought it was rather ugly. But as soon as I saw its pre-evolution, I felt like I needed that adorable daruma in my team. Even if I'll never let this little fella evolve, he's pretty strong and resistant (thank you, Eviolite :P), and he helped me lots of times around Unova! If I could have a Pokémon following me in the games, I'm sure that'd be my Patrick!
● Wobbles [Azumarill]
I never liked the Marill line. I caught one of them in my Black 2 game just to have a balanced team, but I planned on replacing it with another Water-type later. But he started growing on me, and when he evolved, he became one of the strongest Pokémon in my team - I'm sure you wouldn't like meeting his Aqua tail! Wobbles is now one of my most beloved Pokémon and I wouldn't replace him for anything :)
