Scanners/cameras do tend to take away the pictures quality. Happens to me a lot when I take photographs of sceneries. Had to edit them at the end to bring up their vibrant colours. Anyway, you done a fantastic job with this and keep up the good work. =)

And almost all artwork I see in real, always looks so much better than the scanned or photoed versions.

So I can imagine how wonderful this must look on paper!
