I feel like crying like the horse...the branding...not so much

I don't think any one but a sadist would like branding critters.

That poor thing! It makes me so angry to see someone do that to any animal, any animal. I mean, okay, make a tiny identification mark if you have to, sure, but what they did to that horse is sadism! Bastards!

keep in mind his was probably done when she was very young and the marks have grown with her. I don't think the brand was as big as current markings would make it look.

Why do they need to put so many brandmarks on a horse ?

The mare may have been sold at soe time and needed an alteration to show this. But I'm not really an expert on it so I cold be wrong.

i heard the use of cold banding use liquid nitgeon to band and makes the hair come back white white out the scare marks ?

I dont know much about the cold branding other then its suposed to be more human.

A friend of mine owns cattle & he bands everyone he owns for I.D. after a few of his cattle learned how to escape. I keep telling him to cancel the cable so the cattle can't learn from "Prision Break", but he don't listen.

A lot of people now use freeze-branding, it doesn't leave permanent damage. Though I understand branding is still necessary because there are still horse thieves out there. As long as the horse slaughter industry continues to persist in Canada/ Mexico, there will always be horse thieves.

Sadly yes there are still horse thieves though my understanding it had less to do with the slaughter of hourses then just swiping a horse they liked the looks of.

Well in Miami Fl, (back in 2004), there was a serial animal killer. He was on the lose for about a year & took the lives of 17 cattle & horses before three men were arrested for this awful crime. What these stupid retards done was (well I don't want to get too colorful)...... is they used a chainsaw, cut the throats, let the victims die a slow & painful death (It takes a horse 5-10 min. to bleed to death with this injury), & at last, cut them up & sell the meat to anyone who would buy. After that, dump the remains off to the side of a road. The best news of all from this crime, was not only were the men caught, but saved the lives of two horses from being buchered. If I was the arresting officer there, I would've just drawn my gun & shoot the men in the head.

What is "chipping"? As for branding here's a recommendation for all those that actually do: Do it to yourself, then see how you like it.

They have id chips they can implant now. a wand reads the id number off the chip.

from the top number it appears she was in a pmu program.I remember a time ago something like 40 years ago,I met n arabian mare that patton liberated from the nazis,and she had brands on boath sides of her body from neck to tail,that was the mares history too.
