The city lays broken by the quake, looters fill the streets and the police have instigated martial law.
Tommy and his friends have to help dig V-town, one of the last bastions of civilization, back out from under the rubble.
Everyone has plans for Tommy. Some see him as a saviour, others a pawn, others nothing more than a spoiled brat. He's going to have to bring everyone to the table if they hope to survive.
Not only will the obvious happen, but also the return of someone popular.

Hurray... Griss seems to have given his approval, that's just awesome. Now that conversation could make you rich on a pay to read basis....
There's nothing wrong with popping the question in a surprising manner. I proposed to Missus Dawg over the daily radio test for the fire department. The Dispatcher just plugged it in at the end of the radio test.... "Our finial Announcement, From Car 11 to Rescue 27, will you marry me?" boom and that was it. About 5 minutes latter one of the other Station Captains Car 21 came on the radio and asked, what she said.

There's a whole story between Aggy and Griss that perhaps, someday, maybe, I'll write.
The fact that one of them is a vegan nature spirit, and the other's a wolf that leads the Hunters... they're a unique mix. But they seem to make it work.
Now that's an awesome way to pop the question. Just be glad the dispatcher got the vehicle numbers right! Hehe.
Tommy's not quite that inventive, but he has his moment. It's less the question that's fun -- they both (think) they already know the answer. The real problem is how do you put a ring on a wolf's finger?

Well then, if a collar is out that only leaves three easy methods that I can think of.
1. The ring is designed to open, and it can be closed around the appropriate portion of Tommy's finger.
2. She places a simple gold necklace around his neck with a simple ring on it.
3. instead of a rig he gets to wear some kind of ceremonial bracelet.
I'm sure there are more options available, but these three seem to be the easiest ways I can think of. Plus with the wide variations in species and body composition found in V-town, I'm sure there are a small number of socially acceptable and recognized methods of an anthro being wed and exchanging vows in a traditional ceremony.
