"Now that was an impressive catch, I'll admit, but if you want real food, you have to get out into the deeper water!"
The blue dragoness stared up at the much larger red with wide horrified-yellow eyes and shook her head in emphatic disagreement. She rolled back on her fish-stuffed belly and half-spread her wings, gesturing with her claws while she made snarly faces.
"Yes yes, the midwaters, I know how you hate them. What if I ate them all for you, then?"
The dragoness was not impressed. She was content to stay on shore, or near-shore at least, and be out of range of the nasty deep-water predators.
"Nothing ventured, no weight gained!" grinned the red. "Fine then, I'll be back."
Ssthisto watched as the colossal red waded out into her lake. "Lake" hardly did the body of water justice though; it was more of a freshwater sea, so large that she'd never seen the other side, and so deep that monsters lived in it. Monsters. She'd seen them wash up on the beach from time to time, and they had jaws that she could climb into if she wanted to. She didn't want to. Ever. The big red was very big, but the creatures out there were very big too. She hoped he'd be okay. Even way out into the lake, his head was still above the surface, trailing a wake as he walked into deeper and darker water until she heard him take a deep breath, let it out, and vanish entirely. She watched for a few minutes, and his head popped back up, further out, and with a huge fish in his mouth. He looked back at her and grinned, tossed his head back and swallowed it down. He turned back away from shore and continued offshore, ducking his head again. Losing her fight against drowsiness and with nothing dramatic going on, the blue dragoness curled up facing the water to wait, and her eyes soon slid shut in food coma.
Her eyes flew open again - she hadn't meant to fall asleep, especially not in the open! Predator! She yelped and jumped to her feet, throwing out her wings, bioluminescent eyespots shining brightly before she recognized the big red. Just the big red. Shuddering, she sat down again and tucked her wings, looking rather sheepish as he grinned at her.
"Really, is that a way to welcome back the conqueror of the deeps?"
She looked down at him - he was floating this time. And wide. Very wide. With intermittent ripples expanding outward from his squirming, kicking belly.
"Come on out, I think I'd like to let the water help support my weight for a while. You can use me as an island!"
She gave him a very dubious look.
"I could use some company out here, and nothing can get you if you're on me."
She doubted this, but she also didn't want to leave him. He might get lonely. Or scared. She had probably better keep him company and keep him safe. Yes. That's what she'd do. With a grunt, she hefted her fish-filled belly up and waddled into the lake, cold water on tiny-scaled hide, and leisurely swam out to him and clambered up his haunch to sprawl between his hips. His hindquarters sank a little deeper into the water, threatening briefly to tip over backwards, but the weight of his arms and wings up forward kept him level. He looked back to make sure she was comfortably settled and purred at her. As he breathed in he would float a little higher, and with each exhale he would sink practically to the waterline. He set his head down in the water and blew some bubbles, relaxing. She could still feel his stomach struggling and squirming beneath her; as full as he was, maybe he had eaten all the tidewaters? No, probably not, and probably none of the deep-water leviathans either. Though if he tried, he could probably fit one of them... She yawned again, eyes fading to contented dark green, slowly pawing at his bulging belly. The dragon purred and closed his eyes with a yawn of his own, slowly rising and falling with his breathing to digest.

dragonsintheattic helped with some advice on the water effects and I think it really looks much better for it. :3
The smaller dragon is actually
dragonsintheattic. I'd likely capsize Mandarax if I tried to use him as a raft. Not that that wouldn't be funny. :P
