Willys wasn't the only company to build Jeeps for the military during WWII. But the Willys MB is the most recognized and after Ford was unsuccessful in suing Willys for the rights to the name Jeep the rest became history as they began to build the CJ or civilian jeep.

yeah i knew this. But did you know.
Ford and willys, was contracted by the government for this vehicle. Hence why they both look the same. The parts had to be interchangeable between the two, and ford did not like that. So ford had all of their parts cast with a ford logo on them. so its always been a fun hunt with me when i see one of the willys, and look for the ford logo bolts that may or may not be attached.
