The one thing I like more about digital than traditional, I think, is how easy it is to get the file into my image folder, and from there, submit. Since I'm lazy and forgetful, I tend to be unable to scan anything I like that I drew until days, weeks or sometimes months later than I should have.

This is Arcthur Flambo. He's the main character of a new story I have in mind. I don't have everything about the story set in stone yet, but this one character is fairly well-defined.
He's a Green Mage (commonly referred to as 'healer'), and his goal ever since learning about magic has been to accomplish the impossible: cure deadly illnesses, restore sight to the blind, heal lost limbs, and even resurrect the dead. So far, all of these things have been outside of his and any Green Mage's reach, but that didn't discourage him, and he began looking for ways to achieve them. In his search, he discovered the existence of Grey Magic, the art of necromancy. Despite it being a forbidden art, Arcthur sets out to learn more about it, believing it holds the key to advance the magic of healing...

He looks sort of like a kid in this pic... it might be due to his height, I'm not sure.
Either way, I still like how it turned out. This might not be his final colour scheme, but for now I like it, so it'll stay like that. I'm still not that great an expert on colour schemes, so if anyone could give me tips on how to improve his, I would appreciate it very much.
Any lighting/shadow tips would also be very useful.

Certainly - I'm happy to give it, but there's nothing that jumps out at me as needing it. I like your soft shading, in particular.
You mentioned that he looks sort of like a kid - it doesn't quite seem that way to me, but I would imagine that would have to do with the general proportions of the head in regards to everything else - your style fits along those lines though so maybe I'm used to it and that's why he doesn't seem all that young to me?
