Forsaken's Lament

A good friend of mine suggested I push my skills more, try new things and expand my styles. So here's my attempt at telling a touching story without any words. I'm not sure how well it works, but I like the feel of the whole thing.
I hope you do too.

You've got it perfectly.

I particularly enjoy these pictures you do, Drake. As much as I enjoy your more silly or sexy works, you have shown that you've got a strong ability to convey emotion and sentimentality in your artwork and I always look forward to seeing more of it.

I've said the same thing to Dutch lots of times: Roll the dice and take a chance. Now Dutch won't stop talking about Harlan Ellison becoming one of his fans ;)
There's like ten zillion magazines out there dying for cartoons; There's books that need to be illustrated (Why can't you illustrate a "Myth" book?); Why haven't you've done a 4th ed D&D rulesbook?
You decide your fate.
BTW, you want to do a Haggis and Misty Mouse wrestling pic? Dutch won't let one of his characters take a bump the big baby... I'll tell you...
:)
Be a leaf on the wind.
But a D&D book could be fun.
And I've got the urge to draw another Tarot Deck...
-B!
I wonder how that's going to go.

Sheesh, silly power game.
Great use of color and lines to tell your story. Who would have thought us Taurans could love so grandly...
/sniff, sniff. Dude, great work...
Ok ok ok, heheh. I agree with Coelacanth. You can draw what you want to and still make it to other things. Oh and the myth series is still on. The last book I have is about a year old so who knows?
pretty amazing.
For some reason after looking at this, I have the Corpse Bride song in my head.
"Though my heart can't beat, its breaking, it seems that I still have some tears to shed"

of that doesnt work

I know you don't do poigniant much, but when you do... it's brilliant.
It's a good friend you got here, the result is FABULOUS. Hope to see more of this kind indeed...
HOly Zonk! Why wasnt i told???
Granted, I'm not one for understanding feelings, but I am seriously lost.
That aside, b-e-a-u-t-i-ful picture. And she's the hottest undead I've ever saw. Thank you for not sticking "bigger 'n yer head" breasts on her.
The undead girl could be lamenting the loss of whomever gave her the ring, perhaps she became undead and he or she didn't. Perhaps it's her own ring and she's sad because she misses companionship and because she's undead no one will treat her as a person. The tauren could be bringing her the flower as a token of his affection, an apology or to cheer her up. You notice that the flower is alive, complete and beautiful, maybe the tauren already tried to give it to her and she got upset because she's dead and wilting and that's why the Tauren is upset.
Whatever your mind makes up can work with the picture because nothing is explicitly stated.

Beautiful picture, very moving. *sniffles*
The empty eyes of the female
The ring
The flower
It makes me a little sad and sends shivers down my spine.
Such a reaction from art is definitely a sign of something very good.
-B.
I think that says enough.
Tauren will NoT eat...
will...
NOT.. Not.
Eat.
hmmmm do daisy taste like Lilies?...

Could you make a desktop-sized or shaped version plz? :)

... I'm seriously in awe, don't mind me.

And for some reason the insignia on the flag looks familiar, but I can't place it...
-B!
I can honestly say that I've only seen a handful of images that just convey emotion like that without any words.

....damn, my funny bone has dried out today. NO FUNNAY FOR U

Its got that awesome "vintage" look about it too, cause you know the classics were the truth touching stories. Where they had to rely on actual talent and not computer effects.
The tauren, far as I can tell, gives the indication he's in love with her. With the flower and his gaze towards her. Since he's not very happy looking it feels it's either wishful thinking or he's sad because she's sad.
I love how you bring attention to the ring and the flower with the color.
I'm glad you appreciate it!
Thank you!
