1911 Rock Island Armory 9mm with drop in compensator.
Lots of people drawing guns with compensators on the site and figured upload a reference photo for anyone interested in a good old fashioned 1911 with "Punisher" compensator.
The compensator for this is attached to the slide instead of screwed onto the end of the barrel itself. When the slide is pulled, the compensator comes with it.

Go for it, glad I'm getting some positive comments instead of instant hate for uploading weaponry. Soon I'll be modding the handle on this one, got the wood burning kit but still anxious about going to town on the grips just yet. I want to get a few more so I can switch them out.

A weapon is only as dangerous as the person wielding it. And I live in Arizona xD so it's a philosophical and geographical reason I am not offended by a weapon. Again most anti-gun people think people who legally own guns commit crimes. Which isn't really the case.

I was more or less speaking of the site itself as art vs photo dumps actually. I have found myself in a situation with this in my hand with someone entering my house. I chose not to use it using my head instead and deciding to push the dumbass out of my house because he was on drugs and confused. He had no idea he was on the opposite side of the hall of his own apartment, I could've painted his own door with his brains but thankfully did not. I'd like the think that there are many others like me that do not make the sensational political agenda pushing news, that handle their weapons with common sense and decency. I'm tired of the maniac hair trigger assholes liberal media makes us out to be and right wing extremists make worse.
Criminalizing weapons is a very dangerous thing to do in a country that was founded and has kept an armed policy since its inception. Take away legal guns and what do you have left? Criminals with their illegal guns and the open season invitation to wreak all kinds of hell where they think they are safe. Bad idea all around, it will not happen and even if it did it will end in far too much bloodshed to continue. I've seen more guns on this site than some smaller gun rallies and this is just an infinitesimal percentage of the population. Right wings need to pipe down about coming to take our guns away and liberals need to stop making it out to be the worst thing in the country.
That's my two cents anyway. Tl:dr is I think guns are nifty and people need to chill about them.

It definitely adds a wonderful heft to the gun. The compensator is admittedly more for show since I have way more strength than necessary to call for any sort of recoil compensation especially for a 9mm. It just seemed so naked without it. The recoil on this gun now is a joke, I can hardly feel the jump in my hands. Not the smoothest I've fired but it is a bit better with the comp.
It doesn't really rock back like the 40 that I got my hands on but I can't wait till I can find some 44 for my snub revolver. That thing is going to be a beast.

The higher the caliber, the more noticeable the difference. For something with so little recoil already as mine and as strong as my arms are, there is barely any difference. The higher the grain and the higher the kick, the more downward pressure is going to be put on the barrel with the top breaches. It's certainly not going to give you a recoil-less gun but it will help with the readjustment after firing.

Well you can't get rid of the recoil on a recoil operated weapon, it wouldn't work right if you did, mostly these things are for muzzle climb. But the drop in ones seem like they would be too leaky to actually do much, maybe not though. Not that you really need to do much to a 1911 anyway, I shoot 230 almost exclusively out of my 45 and it's not like it's a wild beast trying to escape or anything. It's actually pretty well behaved.

Exactly, drop ins are definitely not as effective as a threaded barrel installation but truth be told the only gun I could think of needing a muzzle break is .44 or higher. My 44 in particular I feel is going to be that wild beast trying to escape. It's a three inch barrel for a 44 spl. In the immortal words of Michael Biehn, I keep this around for close encounters.
