So I was sitting in my Ancient Roman History lecture and the professor is going on about how Tiberius was forced by Emperor Augustus to adopt his nephew Germanicus as his heir, despite the fact that he already had a son, Drusus II. Now Germanicus, although he wasn't really Tiberius's son, was a really popular guy and the heir apparent, and Tiberius's real son Drusus was kind of shunted to the side to make way for him.
