So, Uh.
This is a Lat.
I would show you older pictures of these things but to the best of my knowledge there are no longer any in existance.
I used to draw them ALLLLL the time, especially at my aunt’s house, where there were plenty of markers and newsprint to go around- and i was at my aunt’s house a lot. (it is to this day one of only four places where I feel at home enough to raid the fridge.) we went every six weeks to help buy groceries for Grandpa and Grandpa Nelson (who lived in the back yard. it was every six weeks because that’s how many of the original 13 kids still lived close enough to drive out.)
This thing is one of my first creations (there are a slew of others that i still intend to use someday- including the Whip Tail Cat and the Shadow Shifters, which belong to a sic-fi universe I hope to more fully explore someday) but these guys.. they got lost somewhere.
They were, when I was young, the epitome of cool- all the best parts of cats AND lizards! (lizards, apparently, mostly were yellow with stripes and teeth that stuck out and big claws and long tapering tails and also huge long ears??? these ears do not do justice to the ones I used to draw on these guys, if memory serves.)
Anyway, this is what I drew for July 4th's ABE. It was pretty quick but it was a lot of fun and I will need to pull out some other old things and play with them- there’s a lot of good stuff from the past. lots of imagination that you just can’t pull out of an adult, most of the time- and not all the ideas were terrible, either… just not mature enough to really do them justice.
