Darknose And Harry again, doing what raccoons love to do. No, no, not that. The other thing! Mutual grooming. This is a very common activity for raccoons who are friends or family. The instinct is so strong to return the favor that a good scritching from me will motivate most raccoons, (even very nervous ones) to try to groom me, though my lack of fur seems to detract from their experience. After all, furry bodies are far more pleasant!

In most places, there are orphans needing caretakers. Just don't count on "one", as litters are usually 2-4. However, I don't suggest or condone raising one for the sake of having a pet. They just aren't pet material.
Wildlife rehabilitation, though, is a very good cause, endlessly needed.
