Some of you asked for it (and I thank you for humoring me), so here is a shot of the wireframe model, the armature (WIP) and what little work I've done skinning the damn thing (also, obviously, a WIP)
If it looks blocky keep in mind I'm trying to keep the poly count low (because ultimately I intend for this to turn into a very small online game for me and a couple friends friends)
I'm first and foremost a programmer, and pretty new to 3D modelling in general (which doing well is arguably AS hard as 3D programming), so if you see some glaringly obvious mistake PLEASE tell me

This is Blender, right? Ugh, one of the programs I've actually never used (I was swarmed by Maya-based projects) so my advice here may be lacking but it looks pretty workable. Are you planning on eventually articulating the hands?
Also, just out of curiosity, what sort of scale/distance would the player be viewing this from? Would this be on the level of a unit in an RTS game, a Diablo/Dungeoncrawl character...? I like what I'm seeing of the texture so far, though.
The one thing that sets off a warning bell is how you've set those two bones between the thigh and the "crossbar" in the torso. You may want to put another "crossbar" at where the thighs meet the body to keep the hip/thigh area in the right shape; otherwise you're going to have to micromanage the positioning of those upper two hip-to-waist bones lest your character look like it's walking from the bottom of its ribcage.
