This is a rough study for an idea that floated into my head one day at work. I hope to do a finished piece of it some day. The interesting parts will be handling the lighting which will primarily be coming through the door, and the closeup details of the battered AK47 rifle that the mouse is rest on.

The use of the term "banana clip" has always driven me up the wall. I know that it's pretty much a thing of popular culture these days (made famous by the media), but it's a misnomer! A clip (not pictured) is a tool used for loading rounds into a magazine (pictured here), no matter if it is a fixed magazine (like on the SKS or Garand), or a detachable one (like on the AK or M16).
The closest thing to what I would even remotely let be called a "banana clip" is the 10 round Chinese clips for the SKS, which indeed are clips, and are curved. Baron, I'm not ripping you on this since I know you're aware of the issue...just the terminology that drives me nuts. x.x Every time I hear it on the news, I cringe.

Yeah but since I want the piece to look like it is taking place in some Banana Republic I thought use a culture cliche. Besides for right or wrong when I say it people have an idea what I'm talking about. Even non-gunnie types. If it is any consolation I get grumpy over the use of silencer in much the same way.
FYI. Ten karma points in your favor for even knowing the difference between the two!

Yeah, I hear ya. In situations like this, though, I like to make sure people are informed on the proper terminology and whatnot - which you've done on countless occasions.
I suppose it's just like when an anti-gun legislator (Rep. Carolyn McCarthy) was asked what the purpose of a 'barrel shroud' (a safety feature on very few guns) was, and she really had no idea - even though she proposed legislation that would ban them! Her answer was that it is "the shoulder thing that goes up". I laugh every time I watch the video of her answering that question.
For those still wondering what one is, a 'barrel shroud' is a covering for the barrel (sometimes ventilated) that provides no more function than helping to prevent the shooter's hand from getting burned by a hot barrel. So she wants to ban a protective feature because of how it looks...? Hmm...
Still, great picture and thanks for the Karma points! XD

Yeah, and barrel shrouds original reason goes back to the day when bayonet fighting was considered a very critical issue in military small arms design. Nowdays it exists to protect your hand from the toasty barrel/ gas tube after you've fired off five 30rd magazines in fast succession!
Actually, early AK-47 mags were smooth-sided (like in this image: http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/File:Ak_54.jpg), and they also made smooth plastic mags for the 7.62mm AK's as well as the 5.45mm models.
