Cute story.
We were on our way over to the Westin on the 3rd when we get stopped by a lady handing out flyers. "Oh! Omg! Could you stop and see the kids? We have kids inside and they would love to see you guys!" and who am I to say no to kids?! "Yeah! Let's do it!"
Also, very funny, they introduced us as such.. "Look kids! Furries!" and the kids lit up and were so excited to see us. It hit me big time. Right in the thumpthump.. I almost cried. they swarmed us and we just had a ball. they'd bring their toys up to show us and ask silly questions.. *sigh* I just love kids.
Turns out this was a Catholic charity for helping kids through the summer. Giving them a free lunch and letting them play games. Super sweet if you ask me.
This one is really sad... the kids were all giving us hugs goodbye and one girl asked... "Kitty, will you be back?" and she gave me 'the eyes' and I just wanted to cry. I wish I could have told her yes.

It's worth every minute. I've gone to the Mall on Halloween, and to the MD Renaissance Festival in full fursuit, and they love it, adults and kids alike. I love getting the looks and even the silly questions like "Aren't you hot in that [suit]?" At a place like AC, it's pretty minimal because it's overkill, but at a place where you'd least expect to see a furry, you are the most awesome thing they have seen. The most touching thing I've had was a kid just running up and hugging me, telling me "Thank you."
