After months of working hard on this project inbetween commissions and other work, the pupu.. uh KIWI project is finally completed! Scope out this cute little fatty in all his glory. Mostly airbrushed, only the eyes were hand-painted. I used pearl powers and pastels for his cheeks and all the extra glimmer. I changed the design of the tree yet again because the 'branch' like design didn't sit well. This one DEFINITELY does.
I will be taking pre-orders for KIWI before the end of the month. Just need to get a few more goodies prepared. For those who are interested I will be offering DIY kits as well as fully painted figures. He is a pretty big sculpt. Length from beak to tip of tail is 5½". Height from tummy to crest is 3½" and his sheer fatness is 3" wide. The tree base measures 2½" wide and 5" tall.
These are NOT commissioned pieces and cannot be customized. Will be casted in solid white resin. Their combined weight is well over 1 pound.
DIY kits are $75 + shipping
Painted pieces are $120 + shipping

I think the difference between kickstarter is that you can even have ladders about it. For example, include commissioned pics/sketches, a set of all the sculpures you are making and similar.
The preorder will let you know exactly how much u need to produce and people will be getting it. The process will be more organised.
I think that the whole preorder vs kickstarter is completely up to you and how much time you can invest in case you go with the kickstarter. I am not sure if kickstarter will benefit you financially though, since there's a % cut off your compaign money (I think).
I wish I wasn't saving money for vacation right now, cause this one's really really cute :3!

I personally would love one of these painted to look like my cockatiel who departed several years ago..Tinker.
He was a standard grey cockatiel and he was my companion through my childhood since I was 5 years old. He died the christmas morning before I was to go to college...it was one of
the hardest things I've dealt with when losing a pet.
I will keep an eye on this, this honestly is such an adorable sculpture. It would mean a lot to me to have one to look at and remember him by..so yes I'd totally buy myself one. :)
