I just wanted to draw something.
Actual image coming up.
Process:
first, the line art sketch
then I just create a bottom layer that is used to block the figure in grey then transparent lock the layer
after, I start adding layers in between the line sketch layer and the locked layer and use the "clipping layer" option by right clicking the layer in the layer panel so I don't color block outside the figure.
Just color block with several layers
And then I start detailing until the end.
The dark gradient background was added easily b/c I didn't flatten the image or draw on the background layer, so I just inserted a paintbucketed color layer in b/w the background layer and the shitton of layers above it.

So correct me if I´m wrong. You do the skethc or lineart in a separate layer, then you make one layer that cover the lineart with grey, the whola canvas in grey. Then you make another layer between the line and the grey layer. But the clipping mask in which one you do that? on the layer with grey? so you paint the colors in that layer and in the middle layer you uncover what you pain on the grey layer?
I still don´t know that kind of things, but Í would like to learn that coloring technique XD

its like this
Layer panel order:
>Layer: Lineart sketch
>Clipping mask layers
>Layer: Grey Silhouette
The function of the clipping layer can only be applied on the layer that the clipping layer is above, so in this case, Since the clipping mask layers are above the grey layer, those layers will "clip" to only the grey layer.
The grey layer is to create the boundary for the colors that I was going to add so the silhouette acted as a canvas within a canvas.
If you used a clipping mask on the line art layer, then the most you can ever change is the color of the lines of the sketch, which is style that some artists use such as the anime artists from summer wars movie.
