Finally finished modding my first Gameboy. Just did some very basic stuff: put in a teal inverted backlight, gave it a prosounded 1/8" jack, replaced the buttons with real NES buttons. Been a really awesome project. I almost had to chuck it after I accidentally drilled into the front PCB and shredded the B button traces. But I did a little working around and fixed it and now it works good as new!
I'm hoping to make more of these to sell to people if anybody is interested. I can make them to whatever specifications you want. Just note me if interested.

THere are ssoooooo many mods, these are just the absolute basic. You can put midi connectors in them, you can completely light up the case with LEDs and a clear case. I want to try a mod where you replace the buttons with clear buttons and put LEDs under them so that when you press the button, it lights up.
Of course :3 there are a few backlights out there for CGBs, and I could possibly even get a DMG style case to guy a color and put it in if you want a different case. Plus the pro sounding is the exact same pots, though I would suggest against prosounding if you're not going to do music on your CGB since the volume is very low from a prosound since it's coming out at line level. Plus it's a different polarity from headphones so over time there is a possibility it would mess up your phones :I I got the volume up by plugging it in to a RCA splitter, then to my USB interface, then just allowing my computer to let me listen to it while it's recording.
What sort of stuff would you like done on a CBG?

Well, if I just made them and sold them, I'd probably try for about $100 each, putting me at about even for costs. I don't really want to try making bank doing this or anything, just because I'm only just starting and if I send it out and it turns out something has been done wrong and it's returned I won't really be losing any money.
If you want one custom, it really depends on what all you want. Everything kinda adds up. Console, backlight, new screen, new buttons (optional), pro sound (1/8", 1/4", or RCA), paint the case, clean the case and battery contacts or new contacts. I can also maybe switch out the power LED if desired. I might do that with this one once I get a blue LED to match the backlight. Oh, there's also inverting and Bi-verting. Both are pretty cool. Bi-verting raises the cost, though, but only by the cost of the biversion chip.
My estimate would be to at least have about $130 set aside for commission, then I will either buy a console or use one of the ones I have and I'll add up the costs and give you a more appropriate estimate.

Pasted from earlier comment:

Just note me if you're really interested and we'll work something up.

Of course it's still able to play DMG games. All the flash cart does is allow you to put games on it. There are lots of different flash carts on the market, just the one i got is the cheapest at $40.
And I can /try/ to do something like that, though you would need to be more specific on what exactly you want.

It'd be a lot easier to just get one commissioned from me if you'd like. Just so then you for sure get everything you want in the case. Also, if you want it for making music, I'll have to do a little extra, but only little bits, like I'll probably have to remove the original speaker, since the prosound mod doesn't cut out the speaker when it's in use, it just cuts the power between the speaker and the output, cutting total output in half. I left my speaker in just because I'm using this for recording and I'm going to be recording each channel solo and then mixing them together for the right sound.
Duuude, I almost bought one of those off of eBay the other day. I was doing research into Native Instrument's Maschine and was going over reviews and a guy mentioned the Lemur and I looked into it and thought it would be better than an analog controller (which I just bought one that can control my sequencer/synth and my DAW after all this), but then I did some more digging and saw that they weren't pressure sensitive and even at their highest selling point, analog controllers beat them for the shear point of the physical controlling ability, as most people found it easier to push a real button or push a real slider than to work a touch screen. But I still thought it was cool for the fact that it is the best controller for programmers who know the midi language thing (I forget what it's called) and those who are good with software. I'm not too good with software, so I decided to stick with physical stuff. Right now I'm actually about to dump a bunch of time and effort into building a midiBOX SID V2, since I've been wanting a really nice synth for my analog set up and the SID chips are still considered the best synth chips made by circuit junkies. Plus, it would give me more experience with these types of electronics since I'm wanting to learn this stuff.
But, anyways, just shoot me a note whenever you're interested. If you look around on eBay or at official stores of the big guys, a modded gameboy such as mine up here, runs between $120-$150. I'm wanting to run it cheaper while I am still learning and developing my skills, kind of like beginning fursuit makers.

lol the one on eBay is the one I bought XD
and yeah I know what you mean, the touchscreens do tend to have some downsides, but I was going to incorporate with physical controllers as a sampler and synthesizer controller, possibly lights
oh and I think you were thinking of OSC
anyway, sure thing, it's at the top of my list
