Hehe! I recently found a mesh avatar on SecondLife of Timon, and it came with the UV map so you could do your own colors, so I did one up matching my meerkat character! It's so fun running around all tiny. ^.^

Though it needed some slight adjustments. I made a different flexible tail for it myself, and depending on what viewer you use, the body shape needs it's hover adjusted so the feet won't sink into the ground.

Yeah, unfortunately SL was stupid and used a weird file extension and didn't include facial expressions. It is possible, but the creator would either have to make a jaw part separate from the rest of the model, or create an additional model for each expression and have you wear them all as one item and have them rotate between visibility. However this would require either having to know how to do sculpts too, or a lot more upload money to do each individual model, not something a lot of people want to do.
There is free software out there that can allow you to do it, but the learning curve on them is so steep. I've taken a look at them too and it's way too much to get into if you're only going to do it once or twice. It would help a lot if SecondLife allowed for more format types though.
