There is, among the many possible realities threaded in the ethereal expanse, one universe in which Kyrik becomes mated to, of all the creatures imaginable, a goddess of fire named Freiya ( http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10202683/ ). Their unique relationship blossomed and burned passionately, until one day they produced a child - Garnet. While their daughter shares a great deal of her mother's traits, the young dragon has taken with her a special part of her father, as well.
Kyrik's particular species of sea dragon are natural shifters, and this trait carried itself over to his daughter genetically. Having never before experienced a shift, nor having any idea how to control such a reflex, Garnet found herself changing without control after letting her imagination run wild from spending too much time playing her favorite game. Luckily, dad was around to help her through it with a guiding hand and plenty of encouragement.
A little afraid at first, it didn't take long for Garnet to warm up to her new body and appreciate her gift. Father and daughter spent a great many hours in those furred, serpent-like bodies, chasing each other, playing, and shaking their rattles vigorously until mom had quite enough of THAT noise.
Now, Garnet likes to practice with new forms from a variety of her most recent favorite creatures she sees or reads about. Every so often, she needs just a little extra help from dad.
