Carly Stafford was born in Ireland before her famil moved to Leeds. The oldest of Christopher and Catherine's seven daughters (YES! SEVEN!), Carly was a bright child growing up, but was also very hyper due to being easily bored. Her mother enrolled her in gymnastics classes in hopes to curb her restless ness, but it worked very slightly. Then Christopher thought that Carly should try karate to learn discipline. Cathy was reluctant due to the violence, as was Carly, but late, Carly learned to love the sport and was very good at it, earning many trophies in it.
Carly also excelled in academics, graduating at the top of her class and obtaining a scholarship to Cambridge. She originally wanted to become a teacher before a friend persuaded her to attend a lecture of a popular anthropologist and archaeologist. Carly was so intrigued by the lecture and the adventures that the professor has ben on, that she decided to change her major to history and archaeology.
During her time at Cambridge, she was also the witness of a murder of a UK-56 agent. Trying to run awway from the scene and notify the authorities, she was eventually caught and kidnapped. Not by the murderers, but by a UK-56 agent. Hoping that she would keep quiet over the incident, he gave her an opportunity to see if she would be a good spy for the British government's special espionage unit: UK-56. It turns out that Carly's gymnastics, kartae, and high intelligence piad off and she became a college student by day, secret agent by night. Eventually, Carly graduated from Cambridge and UK-56 offered Carly another opportunity. They had ties to a worldwide organization called Atlas, which was created to protect the world's history. It was so perfect for Carly, including the fact that she had a history degree and was also offered a job at the organization's front, the London Museum, it was too good for her to pass.
So these days, Carly works at the museum and often goes on adventures for Atlas to preserve the history of other cultures. And often times, she does an occassional mission for UK-56 with a protege agent: Emily Parker.
Pretty much, Carly and Emily are almost polar opposites of each other. And often times, they work together, much to the chagrin of each other. But they are still good friends.
