This one is slightly older than the first. (First scarlet Scale) As Scarlets get older and progress in the clan-complex, they tend to gain scarring.

Normally used by their clan as guardians/enforcers, Scarlet Scales' up-close and personal preference for--well, everything, puts them right in the way for damage. Where most Daiconi would suffer critical injuries for similar wounds, Scarlets have the thickest hides thanks to the plating and tough skin. It also helps that they have the greatest bite force and muscles to power their attacks.
