This is Romulus, one of our older kittens from this year. [start rant] According to the ASPCA he would be considered a feral cat. He was born to a feral cat, was born away from people, and runs when people walk up to him. He isn't old enough to start hissing at people, but they would still most likely put him down for being feral. However, because of some diligence on my part, not only will he let me pet him while he's eating, but he will also roll over and let me pet his belly. I am the only person he has let do this so far, but he's only seen two people. He is the biggest and bravest of his litter, with his brother and two sisters only letting me pet them while they eat. This is why I don't take my feral cats to shelters, they do not have the time, money, or space to spend time on each cat. I do. We are working on getting our cats fixed, but we won't be taking most of them to shelters, not because we don't believe they don't deserve better, but because we don't believe they should be locked in a cage or put down just because they were born feral. [end rant]

We have programs to get them fixed and released back, which is what we are working on doing, but it is still expensive and time consuming trying to catch a set of cats, make sure that none of them have been fixed yet, release the ones already fixed, catch a few more with the empty cages, repeat as needed (the more that have been fixed the harder this will be) take the batch of cats to the vet to them fixed, wait a day, then go pick them up. Rinse and repeat as needed until all the cats are fixed
