messing around with water droplets, more, getting a feel for exposure settings, background....and what have you.
I kinda think this is cool
but in this stage in my photography career. I really can use all the nit picking I can get.
so, if you can criticise, politely, go for it!

Good job! It's really hard to tweak the camera to the right place in order to capture something moving so fast, and you've got a very clear image here. That's the hardest part of photography, at least for me. Now you have the easy stuff to work on, the principles of design. Rule of thirds, patterns, repetition, and the like. The only problem I see with this one is lighting, maybe some odd balance issues on the top part of the image. Keep up the experimentations!
ahh, we have somebody with a good sense of critique.
granted, i didn't do any editing...but yeah, that corner there, is simply cause i didn't bother cropping out, or otherwise removing that difference in background.
it's a little under exposed, partly, cause, I figured, there'd be better contrast, thus the water would stand out a bit more.
though, I could side crop most of that, to help. with that background issue. but a top crop, would get rid of some of what I see as the focus.
I dunno what the rule of thirds is all about. i know what it IS I just don't really get it's grand importance.

It's just a little rule that sometimes makes things look better and sometimes doesn't. It's one of those rules thats strides the line between existing in reality and just existing in some people's subconscious. In general if something is in a third of the screen, be it divided vertically, horizontally, or diagonally, it is more visually appealing. Otherwise it will just feel slightly unbalanced. Of course, this rule may only EXIST because everything we've seen in art has been created by people that followed this rule and thus we're looking for it.
BUT anyways, it doesn't *really* apply here, it's just one of those principles that'll be the next step in your education and experimentation. At least it wouldn't be a bad next step. Who knows. Learn what you can and do what you want, that's my philosophy.

Negative space? Even with smaller objects in negative space the rule of thirds still gives a more appealing placement for objects. And putting things in the center of the screen is usually inadvisable. It's overwhelming. Instead place it a little off. And all of these rules are really just something to keep in mind, in the end an image will look good when it looks good. So don't worry too much about it.
hmm. well i dont know much of photography but i know my liking in designs and water splashes are always pretteh ! @o@ and this is a pretteh splash. what i would like to see with it is something more fresh tho~~! but what i think of is quite hard to go trough with o_Ô since it reqires quite the set-ups ....
anyhow if you have a realy light up white placeyou could get a pretty glass bowl or similar with a flower in it and make as splash effect in that =O ? ok i suck at explining but... yeah xD brighter enviroment -nods- it looks good tho -thumbs up-

hmmmm... well, it seems that contrast is something photoshop eddited, though, it can be tweaked in camera.
so, drops of water in say, a large glass vase, with a flower in it?
ok. I'll commission that picture, if you do a drawing for me, my pet. start working on my uber awesome character sheet!
