What a cute little nightmare beast. This is obviously a very rough photomanipulation, but seeing as I stayed up until 4am working on it, I probably won’t have the final illustrated version done terribly soon. So I’m just putting this in my scraps to look at while I finish up another couple of projects before I go back to finalizing this design. Spooksie is a psuedo griffin cross between the Griffon Vulture and Spotted hyena. She has a skull-like face, but is generally pretty sweet despite her fearsome exterior. She hunts in and eats dreams. I plan on making a poseable doll of Spooksie to cuddle and ride my shoulder, and possibly a fursuit or two.

Yes. I first thought of it just as movements. That kind of awkward bobbing hop that Vultures do so well, with their hunched up floofy shoulders, plus the way excited hyenas do that goofy stagger, and it ended up blending all together. I want to make a couple animations of her just moving around and playing. Probably a couple of her eating treats, from crunching bones, nibbling carcasses and catching bugs out of the air. Possibly crunching a melon or some kind of amusing fruit eating as well. And if I get some audio editing equipment I might play around with noises for her, it'd be interesting to see how to combine hyena noises into bird noises. Then I'll have a full video. It's just the sort of practice I need so that I'm more experienced when running my Matri project.
