I’m actually a big fan of birds, especially conures and indian ring neck parakeets. One day I wish to get one but in the mean time here’s a doodle of a pineapple conure. They’re my favorite coloration of green cheeked conures. They’re absolutely gorgeous ;_; Even though it’s just a ten minute doodle I really like how it came out.
regarding the title...I don't know why.

I'd love to own a ringneck ;; I want a blue or yellow one <3
I've had a conure before.. their voice is.. not for everyone.
I'd maybe try to go for something on the "cheaper" end at first, that way you'd know what you're getting yourself into. I finally now have a cockatiel and a parakeet (along with my sulfur crested 'too) and I guess I enjoy their temperament, but they all have their pro's and con's.
Conures are huge cuddlers, they wont learn to say much and they dont really have a "quiet voice" >< I've had a quaker! Those are fun if they happen to be super good at mimiking but they are one owner birds and if they get passed off to another person they tend to be pretty aggressive x_x
I'd hands down get another cockatiel. Their temperment is so nice and their voice is super sweet. Parakeets are a little too spastic. I worked with mine and he goes with me and the other two birds on errands in the car with no issues.
As for a cockatoo. lol. its like having a kid. I got her when I was 11, a gift from my father for doing alooot of hard work.
I've always wanted a macaw, my dream bird would be the super expensive Hyacinth Macaw x3

I hear a lot of good things too, but I think people dont like to talk about the bad parts.
Cockatoos are like kids, just like any other parrot, or even any other pet, but they are so social that its to the point where they really need to be included in all of the family activities or they can easily selfharm with plucking. Grace grew up with me and has been a part of my family with everything and would go camping/hiking with us all the time. I think that's why shes such a well rounded bird. I've seen/herd very sad stories of 'toos not even 3 years old and they've completely plucked themselves clean and are honestly insane. Shes 13 now and only does minor/unnoticable chest plucking. I do check when I can and I know what causes it and try to do everything I can to make her happy again.
They also have this huge drive to chew wood and when owners don't provide them with that, it can sort of drive them insane. Grace doesnt always get pricey wood toys (they never seem to make them cockatoo-grade lol so they last 20 minutes), we tend to go out in the woods to pick safe, thick branches, It can be expensive to always go out and buy wood toys so you have to get creative about it.
They are definitely an expensive pet that becomes part of your life and they will certainly outlive you depending on the species, but if you like the idea of having a feathered friend of that size, its worth it.
