There once lived a dragon king.
Selfish and Bitter due to the events of his past, this king was sure he was destined to forever sit in his throne, alone.
He would spend hours each day, staring at part of his reflection in the single shard of a tiny piece of broken mirror.
You see, this king despised his reflection. He hated what looked back at him so deeply, that he had broken every mirror within his sanctuary walls.
Only one mirror remained; far in the furthest reaches of his sanctuary, there stood a tall and mighty standing-mirror.
It was covered with a large strip of heavy material, only to be removed once he was ready to view himself for what he truly was.
That mirror remained covered for hundreds of years...
Once he had left the confinements of his sanctuary, the king decided to simply allow the wind to take him where he needed to be.
This dragon came across a lowly fox, resting upon the old, empty, rail road tracks.
This fox was no ordinary fox. In fact he was a gorgeous fox with thick, ivory fur and majestic maroon markings.
His ears looked as if they had been dipped in the deepest depths of the ocean because of their lovely, navy hue.
This little fox, upon being approached by such a large and daring beast, raised his hackles.
The dragon king lowered his massive head, showing that he meant no harm and that very moment was the beginning of a never-ending bond.
For the longest of times, that little fox was deathly weary of that large dragon. Constantly, he peered over his shoulder in fear that the dragon would turn on him like so many had done before.
Never did the Dragon King falter at showing his loyalty.
What a strange sight it must have been, such a tiny Kitsune being humbly followed by such a massive beast...
Somewhere along the way, the King managed to fall for that small, ivory fox. He spent nearly every day trying to impress the small creature.
"If my looks do not please him, I will sacrifice what i love most for him." He had spoken quietly to himself.
And he did just that, for he offered the fox his ever-lasting companionship.
The Kistune was stubborn though, and many times that stubborn little fox's actions injured his companion.
Many times the King had been captured, and every time he was tortured or snatched up, he had been doing it in the name of love.
Along the way, a serpent came in.
The fox knew him well, and they went back as far as they could remember.
After the longest time, the king bowed his head once more, only this time it was in pure defeat.
He ran as fast as his paws could take him, and spread his wings as wide as they possibly could, leaving the Kistune alone.
After being rescued by the serpent, the Kitsune admitted with sorrow that had he not been the Dragon King's primary target, the king would not have received so many injuries.
He begged and pleaded the Dragon for forgiveness and just as the fox was sore from crying out, the Dragon lowered himself to the ground, wrapping his tail around the small, Kitsune.
"I told you i would forever love you. Why do you cry?" He asked, emerald-blue eyes flashing.
The fox rubbed his face across a paw and whimpered, " For I have hurt you so many times, and yet you remain so loyal."
After some time, the king decided it was time to take his companion with him, back to his sanctuary. The Kitsune happily obliged and they made their way back to the King's fort.
"This is your home now. " The dragon admitted, padding through the halls, the tiny fox trotting happily beside him.
When they reached a set of large, wooden, double-doors, the Dragon pushed them open to reveal an old and dusty room.
It was filled with many odds and ends and there in the far back, there stood a tall and mighty standing mirror.
"Why do you cover that mirror? It is the only one you possess." The Fox has asked.
"It is covered, because i can not face what i have become. I swore to myself that I would never look at my reflection until i was ready to see myself for who i truly am." He bowed his head and watched as the little white fox tromped to the mirror. He grabbed the cloth cover with his small muzzle and yanked it away from the mirror.
Dust clouded the Dragons vision, causing him to close his eyes until it cleared. When he opened his eyes, there sat the fox.
But his reflection, his reflection was what really took the Dragon aback.
In the mirrors reflection, there stood a man. A slender man with gorgeous attire and caramel skin. His foxy ears remained, as did his tail. His markings laced his flesh and his eyes beamed a deep and bold amber.
The Kitsune titled his head from side to side, admiring his reflection before turning to the Dragon.
"Come with me. I want to see you." He yipped, running to the Drake with so much enthusiasm that he nearly tripped over his own paws.
" I can not. What if i do not like who i see?" He frowned as best as he could with a muzzle and the fox shook his head.
" I will not have any of that. come now!"
The King sighed and decided if the fox could do it, he could as well.
Carefully, he pawed over to the mirror, eyes closed.
"King!" he fox gasped and the Dragon closed his eyes tighter.
"King you are magnificent!"
The Dragon, surprised by the Kitsune's words, opened his eyes and what he saw in the mirror, was beyond pleasing.
In his reflection stood a tall and lean man with pale, ivory skin and wonderful teal markings that matched the scaling of his Draconic self.
The Fox stepped forward and stuck his paw inside of the mirror as if it was liquid.
The Dragon watched curiously.
All the remained was the man with matching markings to the Fox and The dragon frowned.
"Come with me..." The caramel skinned male summoned, reaching his hands through the glass at the Dragon.
After much hesitation, the King finally stepped forward, feeling the mans hands in his mane of fur.
"You are perfect, Dragon. Never sell yourself short." He spoke as the Dragon stepped into the mirrors threshold.
After the Dragon had disappeared, all that remained were the two men in the reflection.
"You gave me freedom.." The King whispered as he held the smaller man's face in his palms.
"What is your name, Fox?" He asked while slipping his fingers through the Kistune's ivory hair.
"S'zabeli. My Name is S'zabeli and i am A vagrant. But don;t be fooled, I am also a savant, a man with great knowledge." He hummed, leaning his face against the Draconians palm further.
"And Your name, Drake?" S'zabeli asked humbly.
With a short pause, the King pondered for a moment before replying,
"I am Erynne. I am the King who resides in this castle, And you are my prince." He cooed as he leaned in, pressing his lips to the Savant's in a kiss of passion and longing.
"Let's stay here. in our reflection." S'zabeli mumbled against his King's lips.
"How?" Erynne replied.
"Like such..." The fox leaned down, grabbing an old book from the floor. He reared it back and slung it to the mirror with all of his might.
The mirror shattered, spraying the floor.
"Now, you will forever be with me, and that means you will always mean something." S'zabeli hummed as he wrapped his arms around the Drake's neck, kissing him passionately once again.
