I've never fursuited before, MFF will be my first experience, but I've seen fursuiters at the anime conventions I've gone to, and sometimes they were met well, and others it wasn't so good. People don't really know how to handle fursuiters and those that do know WHAT that person is doing, usually aren't the ones that are the super nice friendly ones. They're the trolls who go "ew furries" automatically think it's a sex suit and will berate the poor person.

I've seen it happen to child fursuiters. One little boy had a suit that he was obviously very happy with. He was in the game room and my group and I happened to be in there resting and playing video games, during a local con. This kid was..if he was 10 I would've been surprised. He was there with this really cute chick that I ended up talking to later lol. That's actually why I noticed him because I was flirting with her. I think she was his big sister or cousin..something like that.

Anyway, he was talking to his friends sitting on the floor while his big sister or whatever played games, and he was talking about how he bought it from someone because he liked it soo much but they had to fix it to fit him and all this stuff. He really loved that suit. Was really proud to have it. Well while I was right about to leave, these guys came into the game room. They were those types that sit around playing fighting games and hogging the machine and talking shit to people.

I'm assuming they just saw this group of little kids sitting around and one of them is in a suit but holding the head in his lap. They start going over to them and start calling him a sick furry and all these horrible names. The kid starts crying and just sits there just eating up all that horrible name calling while his friends tried to get them to go away. His sister didn't see him crying until I went over and grabbed his hand and pulled him up and took him to his sister and went back and just said "That's a fucking little kid dude. That's fucked up. That's real fucked up. You're a fucking cock sneeze." and left.

I saw the chick later on right outside the rave. She said that the kid was fine and he was sitting at home and that he was saying he still loved his suit and still wanted to fursuit but he didn't want to take it back into the anime con. She was saying she was going to take him to a fur con so he could have fun in his suit with other people. I just felt so bad.

awh thats terrible :C i havent had much of anyone ever going ew furry unless it was online, *which is typical to see* and the suiting at ai i havent had anyone go ew furry or anything like that its just more of people who dont understand how to handle a fursuiter which baffles me because in public adults and children and teens have all been very gentle and curtious to ask me before touching me in suit, but its like i went to anime iowa this year and its like people got stupid DX cosplays can be expensive and suits can be expensive we have a cosplay is not consent rule, when people wear quick made up large suits *not fursuits but giant suits* people are not rough or anything like that with them but you put a fursuit out there and people get stupid i guess. i dont know why this year was so much more different aside from maybe mika being more approachable then a realistic corgi fursuit was Dx

I'm not sure, but I actually saw a fursuiter post a journal with tips on how to handle a fursuiter. Of course, I'm sure there are furries around that do that same thing, but they posted it here so anyone who isn't a furry wouldn't see it. I hope they posted it elsewhere.

I've still yet to fursuit for the first time, I will at MFF, so I haven't encountered this personally, but sooo many of the fursuiters who I watch and are friends with tell me people act as if you're really a dog. You can scratch a dog's head, his fur grows back, and he can feel it, but people act like the suit is actually you and you can feel the tummy rubs and head scratches as if you were a doggy or a cat. Which is...odd to me. I don't see why grown people shouldn't act as if that's a person in a suit, a person who could be female while you're rubbing on her chest trying to pet her like a puppy. v.v

it was kind of my fault i got tired of telling every single person that i wasnt the same suiter as last year so when they asked if i remembered them i just nodded yes i didnt expect them all to come at me like they did though, i dont think its really anything anyone would have anticipated i can handle roughtness as much as i dislike it, it was when one of the girls started to pet me on the chest is when i was like nope im done XP
