Adrian is a changeling and agent of his hive, investigating possible threats to his hive and using infiltration, theft and sometimes even assassination to deal with them.
Sundance is a pony and knight protector of equestria, investigating and policing activities breaking the law and threatening the safety of the kingdom of equestria and average ponies.
though both are of different species and different societies, their duties are very much alike. they both serve to keep law and order in their respective community.
it was chance that made them meet each other, each investigating another break of the law, another threat, to their respective society. a threat started by the same culprit, as fate would have it.
thus, they agreed to work together to solve this case, which seemed to be on a much larger scale than they originally anticipated, the more they investigated and the more they found out. this however made the sinisiter culprit aware of both Adrian and Sundance, which eventually lead to this point.
lured into a dark alley, out of sight, they suddenly found themselves surrounded by a sheer army of thugs and hired swords. the murder in their eyes made their intentions clear and both Adrian and Sundance prepared themselves for battle.
now, standing back to back, their weapons already bloodied with a fallen foe at their feet, they knew that a hard fight was still ahead of them.
a fight that ultimately they would win

the show has a comic-book look and the pic and the characters are on it are mimicking same comic-book look, so that is in tone of the show. after all, it can be considered fan art and it should be recognizable as such. if you want realism, go watch a documentary.
also, they are not supposed to be scary, they are supposed to be threatening. they have our main characters surrounded, are armed to the teeth and they intend to kill the main characters. i think that was very well accomplished as the mood is quite evident in the pic.
if it doesn't do anything for you because you don't like this particular style of comic-look, then that is fine. not everyone does.
still if you only want to post comments to ridicule and mock it because, again, you don't like this particular look in general to begin with, then i would rather you stop commenting at all.
