Right, except slenderman isn't green and doesn't have words on his face, or have ears, and wears a suit jacket. And is actually slender. It would be like if they saw a picture of Eek the Cat and called it Garfield, or referring to Cookie Monster as Kermit the Frog; the kind of complete disregard of a majority of the evidence provided in favor of one or two details leaves one baffled as to the thought process that lead to their conclusion.
