I know how it is, I've got a furre bro whose joined the Marines as an APC technician. So he'd have to ride out with the APC's and fix them if they break down. Thankfully he shouldn't be having to go for some months yet, since he's still gotta wait 'till June or so to graduate high school. But just thinking 'bout him being in harms way is chilling in itself. x..x
Huggles and snugs. "No prob and good luck out there alright? ^..^ Good idea as well, and if you have a pierced ear or so. Whats it like, I've been wondering 'bout it, thinking I might get a piercing when I can actually make some extra money, rather then putting all my money into the bills each month." x..x
Unfortunately i lost a few classmates that were friends of mine over there. i was at work when a former ROTC member asks me if i'm going to stop by the school the next day. and after i asked why i was told that some of my fellow graduates that were in ROTC with me had been killed in IRAQ. It tore me up so i can honestly say i know how people feel when friends and loved ones are sent over there.
*hugs you tightly* i'm so sorry to hear that. i know theres nothing i can do but i wish there was a way i could bring back those who lost their lives in this or any war. the only thing i can say is don't ever forget them. for in that way they shall live on. in the hearts and memories of those that knew them
I feel for those fightin in Iraq.
They are fighting a meaningless war created "pre-emptively" based on little to no credible information.
People are getting killed because the US government wants the fucking oil. They spend every cent of the US treasurey to make sure they get it.... because if they dont, the dollar will crash and the resulting recession will put North America into one hell of a depressed state.
My heart goes out to the couple this piece was drawn for.

*Lowers his head* I know how y'all feel... a few friends of mine had their folks and even their own friends over there. Most came back, but the few who didn't make it... *shakes his head* This picture depicts what true emotions we all feel when we must see a loved one take off into great risks and dangers. I can only offer my prayers that any that go now may return safely and back into the arms of those worrying. *favorites*
I don't know how you manage to convey such deep feeling sometimes, but you always do it masterfully. Thank you for a compassionate presentation.
I'm missing a wolfy friend in Afghanistan right now who's out for 10 more months. I can only pray he returns safely so we can one day meet irl.

I really like the detail and interaction here. You can really get a sense of two bodies pressing and interacting with and around one another. The density and sense of depth is great.
The feathering texture is fantastic, and the emotion here is really powerful through the expressions and body language.
Great job with this.

Blotch...oh my dear blotch. You're art has always swayed me emotion that I could feel from the drawing. But this...this is too real. I too have friends being sent to Iraq. One of them which had introduced me to the neighborhood when I moved in. He was so close. And another, one that I was hoping to go to college with. Oh man...now my head spins.
I hope that your friend returns safely. I found out about a month ago that an old highschool friend of mine went to Iraq and there was rumor that he died... but there he was, sitting in my friends living room. I hope yours finds their way back as well. This is surely a highly emotional piece and it shows. Beautifully illustrated.
Never do you feel so close to someone and so far away at the same time except when it's someone you love about to leave. When you throw in the fact that the person is going somewhere that could be considered a dangerous location, it increases the sensation. Just take things one day at a time. It'll be hard, but he'll be home before you know it.
Well... thank you... this warms up a little bit.
A good friend of mine... his mate... is in the same situation... has to go abroad as soldier... and now decided to end their partnership.
Its really touching... cause I cannot really help.... Iam so sorry about this -.-
In that case... thank you for your kindness, Blotch.
And to you having to go back to iraq:
I wish you all the best... good luck... and take care!
Just a German tiger has spoken.
Your sincerely,
Ponch.

I suppose you could look at it that way. However, most long distance relationships are 'self-inflicted' (I want to finish my degree/I want to keep my job/I joined the army and got sent away/immigration procedures are expensive/I can't marry into the country because I fell in love with someone with the same gender/I don't want to move away from my family and friends/I can't leave my dogs and I can't bring them overseas/etc) It still doesn't make separation from your loved one any less painful. ;]
Very good as always! My mate has been overseas in the military for 4 years now. Everytime he comes state side and is expecting to stay he gets shipped out again. My best friend from highschool also was shipped out a year or so back and was killed in a convoy accident. This war is stupid and I don't feel that human lives are worth oil and greed. I wish every soldier a safe return to their loved ones and they have my full support, I just don't support the fascist on capital hill who ship them off.
I can't say it enough, you two: Thank you. The sketch is unbelievably evocative and a bit painful (for me) to look at, but captures precisely how we feel to an extent I believe only you could have accomplished. If you feel it's ok, I don't object to mine and Zeek's names being mentioned in the description... it would give people an opportunity to speak with us directly.
And thanks to everyone else who's been kind enough to pass on their well-wishes! I'm sure I'll make it through this one, too.

What got me the most about this submission is not only the immense amount of pure, raw emotion that has been put into it, but the sincerity of the comments attached to it.
You already make us proud to be Americans. We're all with you. Please come home safely.
All my love.

He'll be in my thoughts...well, they all are, really. I hope that whoever gets elected brings our troops home safe. Not to be uncharitable towards the people in the middle east...but fuck wasting lives over there. It's not our job to police the world, and it's just getting our people killed...
This submission has the longest line of comments I think I have ever seen. But for good reason. I'm sorry to hear that Al has to go back to Iraq. I'm praying for him to return safely, for Al and zeeks sake. I can't say I know the feeling of seeing a loved one off to a dangerous surrounding, but know that it would be extremely hard.
Stumbled across this in someone's favourites. I know it was submitted quite a while ago now, but I had to comment because it's one of the single most beautiful and heart-warming pictures I've seen, and the RL context makes it even more touching.
Well over 1000 faves for this piece and I'm not in the least bit surprised. Well done.

Holy crap i didnt see this before, well now i feel like crap. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1910671
I have quite a few friends over there right now, as well as Afghanistan. One being my roommate, and one being a co-worker. I'm in the military myself, but with my job I'd never go there, and the location I'm at for my job goes to a tropical island when I deploy. I always hope and pray for their safe return, I can't wait to see them again.
