Ugh, five weekends in a row of basically running shop is starting to get old. Worse I am getting my days off scattered in such way that I am not really a chance to fully recover.
However I continue to get more work done on
abakan much delayed commission. I even got a bit more done today. Unfortunately the camera is making the hangar a bit more yellow than it is in real life.
I was able to fix the accidental black Balkenkreuz on the top wing of the towed FW-190 white and I've gotten the tow tractor and crew finished. Also I realized that the ground crews wore shoes instead of boots so I am fixing that one by one as I do them. Also I found some nice references of European Martens which is helping with doing them.
At the moment I am starting on the parked 190 and the crew around it. Also I have started adding the strafing damage to the concrete in front of the hangar. I'll mess it up more when get near the end of the piece.

Actually it is finally getting to point where it doesn't look like screwed up to me. Almost every color piece I work on there is a point when it just looks like a train wreck and think for a moment. "Boy! I've screwed this one up." But I've learned to stay focused and don't stress out. Then at some point in the process it clicks and everything falls into place. It's happened so often that I have learned to work with it. Like the performer who always gets stage fright before going on stage.
It depends on how you arrive/stay. I'm close enough I can drive back and forth. Hotel rooms are at a premium and even by now most everything in a 50-mile radius is booked solid. Cheapest method of staying is to camp, either RV or tent. (prices there vary, some people near the grounds rent out yard space much cheaper than the EAA campgrounds.)
