Nothing ventured, nothing eaten.
It had been centuries since she last ventured into her sea side cavern, centuries since she last sifted her paws through the vastly mountains of golds, rubies and treasures of plenty she kept there.
As with all dragons over time, she outgrew her cavern long ago... Though, even if she wasn't so big, she doubted she would have squeezed her hips into the cave anyway.
Again they came, those eager little humans on their stalworth vessels. The humans were many, had pikes long and swords sharp. Their greed hungry for her golds, gems and treasures untold.
And again, she feasted.
Pike staves cracked and blades bent, ships sank and men broke.
But still, every year, they tried. Dozens of ships and thousands of men, with more and more coming each passing decade. Centuries of men striving to gain her treasures had failed to do so, but they had fed her well.
She lay upon the cliff face like a daemon goddess, a guardian of the greeds of men. One by one the ships made for her cavern, and one by one she swallowed them all.
"Why even do you try?"
Her voice boomed like thunder, an unholy roar to the puny men who cowered on their ships, some daring the ice cold water and razor sharp rocks of the sea rather than suffer her maw.
She laughed to the sky, watching the remaining men squeal in fear as she swallowed half their ship.
"No matter, you like your fathers before you, and their fathers before them have all tried to steal my treasures. You will all share the fate of your ancestors now."
She glanced behind to look at herself, chuckling at the sight of her swollen gluttonous belly sprawled upon the cliff tops, sloshing full of ships, men and sea water. She curled her long thick tail gleefully, watching it swaying over her wide voluminously plump hips.
With a playful grin, she swallowed the rest of the ship in her left paw, then the other in her right, and then another, and another, ever feeding her own greedy appetite.
I do so love old sea tales, myths and legends... And big beautiful dragon lasses with an appetite for treasure and feasts! ^.=.^
I had fun with this little short story, and I hope you all enjoy! =3
Probably forgotten something, usually do. ^.=.^

Well thanke for noticing the change for one. ^.=.^ I would say, mostly has to do with my usual dragoness' bodies being more fleshy or furry, rather than the traditional scalie dragons.
But it also has to do with, I like to think, my own skill improving. I drew a more traditional dragon, liked her look, thought of it as superior, and decided to keep drawing dragons like that. ^.=.^
So what brought about the change?... Time. =3
